Lab Report Analysis
The advantages we have in life are brought about by research and execution of said research. Advancement in sciences aid us in our every day life. A well constructed lab report is the key to successful completing a experiment. There are eight key components to compose a lab report; tittle, abstract, introduction, material and methods, results, discussion, conclusion and references. In my essay I will analyze a lab report from Jeffrey W. Kysar on the measurement of pressure in soda can.
Jeffrey Kysar lab report on the measurement of pressure in a soda can was well constructed, including the necessary body of work along with acknowledgments. All eight sections were covered. The tittle of this lab report is clear and to the point, from reading it you get a sense of what you would gain from the report. Overall the abstract give a full and thorough outlook on the report. Through reasoning the introduction throughly explain the relevance of the tittle. The introduction includes enough background information to grab the attention of the audience in a creative way and to help them understand the study. A good introduction should include a brief description of the methods used during the experiment, this lab report briefly detail its methods. This introduction is great in the sense that its audience can be any group because it is a report on a life time fixture. Thesis statements are the base of an experiment. without a thesis a lab report is pointless, their is nothing to prove. In this lab report the thesis is precise and does its job of explaining an idea to be proven through experimenting. A in-depth method is critical because it strengthen the integrity of your lab report, and its replicability. Its crucial that your method is detailed, so that another researcher can perform the same research. When constructing your method you should never assume your reader is familiar with what your doing. Though the method in this lab report is short it is very precise and detailed. This method was written so that anyone can pick it up and replicate it. A lab report is not complete without results, this is proof to you carrying out your method. Results are a sign of accomplishments. Your result give a background to the claims you will support in your discussion. In this lab report a lot was given in such a short writings, nothing was given and left unexplained. The discussion always follow the results. The findings in your result support the discussion as stated before. In your discussion you use the findings in your results to argue against or for the hypothesis. From reading the discussion you notice that its supported by findings from the result. In the conclusion an overview of the experiment was given followed by the findings. the conclusion thoroughly summaries the experiment snd its findings.
I think lab report analysis’s are very important, being that I myself will be conducting lab reports in the future. As an engineer your peers and yourself will be conducting lab reports detailing their experiment and findings. It is important that a detailed lab report is submitted; without peer analysis a unfit lab report can be submitted. Lab report analysis are done to ensure that the most efficient reports are being published.
